October is both Domestic Violence and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In recognition of both of those causes we offer a Throwback Thursday.
First, we share one of Rachel’s blog posts from last year on unexpected moments of disclosure and connection, in which she learned from two women – one a good friend, the other a business acquaintance – about their respective histories with domestic violence and breast cancer.
Also last year, we did a fundraising video for The Elizabeth Stone House. ESH helps homeless and at-risk women overcome domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental illness so that they can attain and maintain permanent housing, personal safety, and economic stability. Below is an excerpt from the video with a resident of ESH who speaks about her struggles with domestic violence.
