Rosies Place 50th Anniversary

Rosie’s Place was founded as a women’s shelter in 1974 and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. We have produced gala videos for Rosie’s Place for the past several years and are doing it again this year to celebrate this milestone.

These days, Rosie’s Place still offers emergency shelter and meals, but their services extend far beyond that – guests can take advantage of housing and job search services, English for speakers of other languages, legal assistance, and wellness care, among other supports.

As we’ve produced these videos, what’s so wonderful to observe is the relationships that have developed over time between staff at Rosie’s Place and the guests. Guests know that they can always return to ask for assistance, even if time has passed.

The videos we often do focus on one guest, and this spring we profiled Regina. She is an example of a returning guest – she first sought out Rosie’s Place in 2004 and, with their help, found stability in her life. Circumstances changed, however, and she needed their help years later.  She didn’t hesitate to return, knowing that she would be received with open arms and with love.

Above is an excerpt from Regina’s video that highlights her return.
