Without getting too political, we much prefer positive stories about immigrants to the U.S. rather than negative ones. Efdjeen and her family are from Haiti. Everything about them is positive – from the way they welcomed us into their home and fed us a Haitian meal, to Efdjeen’s unrelenting optimism that she will complete the long journey to become a doctor in the U.S. and make a difference.
It was a joy to spend a day filming with her for the International Institute of New England, an immigrant resettlement agency that is supporting her and her family in their transition to the U.S.
